Nintendo Wii Console Now Cheaper in Canada

After seeing ads from Wal-Mart and Toys'R'Us, both announcing the Nintendo Wii Console at a discount price, it's now official: the Nintendo Wii Console will have a new cheaper price here in Canada. Nintendo officially announced that his Wii Console, coming with a Wii Remote, a Nunchuk and the game Wii Sports, will be sold at CA$ 219,99 starting from today, September 27th, 2009! IT's sixty dollars less than the previous Nintendo Wii price, at $279,99! Now you'll have no excuses to don't own a Nintendo Wii for yourself, your family and, more importantly, your visitors! ;)

Wii Sports Resort released in Canada stores

Wii Sports Resort releases today (Sunday) in Canada and if you have a Wii system, run (don’t walk) down to your local game vendor and pick up a copy. Many people I know consider the console pack-in Wii Sports title to still be one of the best around for family friendly pick-up and play fun. Wii Sports Resort takes that style of game and kicks it up another level with even more games and options as well as incorporating the new MotionPlus attachment for even better control. If you had any interest at all in the original Wii Sports, you owe it to yourself (and your family) to check out Wii Sports Resort. I’ve had the pleasure to take the game through its paces in the past week. It has dominated my limited play time and I believe it will be my go-to game for weeks to come.

Kid Factor: Very little to object to here, and the wealth of games mean there is something for everyone. Hardcore gamers will probably pursue a high skill ranking and try to collect all the stamps while less intense gamers will sample all the games and find a few they like the best. Controls on several games are easy enough for even the youngest players to mess around with, but still other games have an appeal for a slightly older audience. Since game information is saved according to players’ Mii characters, multiple players within the same family don’t have to worry about overlapping save games. More competitive families can even use the recorded high scores as a bit of a challenge.

After the bunch of games we had in the last month, you can say summer will be quite quiet. Time for people to play their EA Sports Active and Wii Fit games, I suppose! Seems like anybody got a Wii Fit; seriously, how many are still doing their exercises? In fact, I may have a better idea: go play outside this summer! And, for the rainy days, well the new Wii Sports game, Wii Sports Resort, is set to be in store here in Canada on July 26! Have fun! I know we will!

With so few new Nintendo Wii games this summer, it will be a two-month forecast.

Rent Wii Games Online in Canada - Free Trial

Maybe you know about Gamefly, the website where you can rent Nintendo Wii games online and have them delivered at no cost at home? I always thought it would have been great to rent my Wii games online but the thing is that they only work in USA! Too bad for us :( And sure enough, they quickly become very popular south of the border.

But now, we finally have someone who offer the exact same service here in Canada! Finally! I was so excited the first time I heard about Game Access that I almost flipped out! They have nothing at my local video games retailers! So I tried them and boy I was amazed by their services! GameAccess.ca had almost all the latest games, shipped fast with prepaid return envelops, great! Renting video games online is amazing: it's like having unlimited games for pennies a day! :D This is way more cheap than buying all these finished-in-three-hours games!

Anyway, you can try them free in Canada - with credit card verification ;) - and I even have some coupon codes for you: instead of getting only 10 days of free trial, get 15 days! This way you can have a better idea of if you should pay for GameAccess or not. Just enter this code in the signup process to get your 15 days of free trail:

The Conduit: the best Nintendo Wii Multiplayer Game Yet?

Well, maybe Nintendo finally have that "best multiplayer" game for the Wii, and it is not too late!! Seriously, the first reviews for The Conduit all seems to agreed on this: The Conduit for Wii is really a great multiplayer game. And an "A" on average consumer rating almost everywhere tend to confirm this!

Get The Conduit for Wii for less than CDN $50: The Source Gaming!

The Conduit for Wii Review - 1up (excerpt):

With no real online shooter competition on the Wii, just having the ability to hop into a game with up to 12 players online would have been great. But High Voltage went ahead and built out a complete multiplayer suite. The clean matchmaking system takes only a couple of clicks to get into a group and once there it lets everyone have a voice in setting up the game through a slick voting system that lets everyone have a say on the rules, available weapons, and map selection. Team modes fit the pace of play best but suffer from the lack of communication options other than the uncommon Wii Speak peripheral.

Online may come off a little crude by modern standards, but its raw, run-and-shoot action taps a nostalgic sense from back in the early days of playing PC shooters online. In the heat of this action, The Conduit comes closest to realizing its aspirations to become the first epic shooter for the Wii.

Read the whole 1up The Conduit Review here

If you have been desperately searching for a competitive online shooter with robust options, The Conduit will be a near permanent fixture in your motion-sensing console. While it's not up to the experiences offered on the more advanced Xbox 360 or PS3, The Conduit is easily the best online shooter on Wii. As the saying goes, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king."

Quebec City in Guitar Hero Smash Hits last stage

If you ask yourself where is that last stage in Guitar Hero Smash Hits, well it's the famous Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City! As you may know, the development team, Beenox, is from Quebec City and they thought it would be nice to include the town in the game.

So, the final stage take place on St.Lawrence River, on a gigantic flotting scene made of Old Quebec Fortifying Doors. You can see the Chateau Frontenac, the Quebec bridge, and the crowd is actually on barges.

Now, I know what you're thinking: why not make a big Guitar Hero convention party night in the real Chateau Frontenac? That would be great!

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 with Wii MotionPlus Bundle in stock now in Canada!

In store now, the new Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 with the Wii MotionPlus controller Bundle are now in store and ready to shipped in Canada! For the same flat price everywhere: CDN $69.99!

Wii Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 Bundle Reviews

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for Wii is the definitive golf game. It's filled to the top with content, sports spectacular controls enhanced by MotionPlus, and includes great Disc Golf and online modes. Seriously, this is an amazing package made all the better by the peripheral pack- in. Just as impressive, though, is that this year's effort is so intuitively enjoyable that it has, in my experience, transcended the golf category altogether to become one of those rare Wii games that I will confidently recommend to anybody. Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Boom Blox and now Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 -- these are all games that are spectacular because of the very technology that makes Wii great. Like Wii Sports, Woods 10 could not be made as well for any other system. Get out there and support this excellent sequel -- a standout effort that will surely be in competition for sports game of the year. (Read the complete IGN review here)

With the addition of MotionPlus, Woods 10 on the Wii is a fantastic golfing videogame, besting its console counterparts because of its control options, extra courses, party game modes, and Frolf. Not to mention, it's casual friendly for anyone to play, but with enough difficulty options for the hardcore to stay interested. It's almost hard to imagine it getting better than this for the foreseeable future. (Read the complete 1up review here)

Black Wii Console announced in Japan

Remember the E3 2005 press shots, with all these colored Wii consoles? Since then, all we saw is that nice flat white console! Nice, but hey, everyone love to have some choice. Look at the Xbox, I very like the red one. Well, finally, Nintendo has announced a new Wii console color: a black one! Not too original, I think the Nintendo Wii would look really great in green, but hey, the black one is really good looking!

But don't go crazy yet, that console was confirmed only for Japan, with no Europe or America release plan yet.

DS - The Legendary Starfy in stock now

Nintendo has another insatiably cute leading character in The Legendary Starfy, a platformer about a star-shaped prince who lives in Pufftop. Starfy isn't new to the video game world; this is developer TOSE's fifth game in the series known as Densetsu no Starfy in Japan. This rosy-cheeked and gregarious star is sure to win over the same crowd that adores 2D Nintendo platformers, and we were easily taken by Starfy and his band of merry underwater crustaceans.

Where to buy Nintendo Wii Games in Canada?

Finally, you got your new Nintendo console, and you have a lot of fun with the Wii Sports games. Sure enough, you want to have more games, but now there’s a problem: where can you find new Wii games in Canada at discounted prices? Why they never seem to have the game we want in stock in Canada, even now in 2009? Everyone here face this situation: you want the all-new latest Wii video game but every time you go at your favorite retailer, you’re in front of empty shelves. Or you want that specific “old” Nintendo game, but you’d never find it in any store. So, how to find all the Nintendo Wii videogames you want in Canada?

First, you still can try your local sellers. Try to call them and ask if they could keep you a copy of the game for an hour or two. But they had to have the game in stock, and some retailers don’t take pre-orders. And even if you finally find your game, you may have to pay insane prices for Wii games in stores. So where to get your Nintendo videogames cheaper?

You may want to try flea markets if you want to find that older game you want. But then again, you have to search everywhere without knowing if you will be lucky. And maybe you’ll finally find a used copy of your Wii game, which may be in a poor condition. Very poor condition. But with some luck, you may find a used copy in good condition of the videogame you want, at a cheap price!

Auction websites in Canada

You can also try auction websites! You can easily find some legitimate and well-known this type of seller/buyer sites ( Kijiji, Ebay ), and you can find lot of games there! But maybe you don’t want to deal with their more obscure seller, and you want to buy from more secure online stores. So, if you want an all-new copy of the latest release, what should you do?

Canada Online Stores

You can buy all the new and latest Nintendo Wii games at the cheapest prices in Canada online! Nintendo Canada has a few Authorized Internet Wii games resellers, and they always seem to have the console and all the games in stock! Many shipped their products directly from Canada, so you don’t have to pay any tax duties! Some may even have free shipping! Also, you can compare prices between them and check for all the sales, rebates and discount prices to find your favorite Nintendo Wii games online, in stock, at the best price!

Wii Punch-Out! Text and Movie Review

A really nice Wii Punch-Out!! review I find. I totally agree with most parts of it, except for the prices part, I found the game a little cheaper online. Here's an excerpt of the review:

Finally. Nintendo doing something the “core” audience can care for. It’s been 15 years since a new Punch Out game came out, and 22 years since the NES classic was released, and 25 years since the original Arcade game came out(and 24 years since the sequel to that one came out). Let’s just say we were well overdue for a Punch Out sequel.

And ever since I saw the trailer for this, I knew it was gonna be awesome.

So read on and see if it’s really as awesome as I thought it would be.

[...]

Gameplay

Remember Punch Out on the NES? Well, if you do, it plays the same. Almost exactly.

Controls

The controls are simple. Pressing Left and Right dodges in that direction. The 1 button punches with the left hand, the 2 button punches with the right hand. Pressing them while holding Up does a punch to the face, and pressing them alone does a punch to the body. Pressing and holding Up guards against jabs, and pressing down dodges downwards to pass beneath wide hooks. Pressing A does a Star Uppercut (if you have stars). The controls are the same as on the NES, and they STILL work great.

There’s also motion controls. Punching with the nunchuk is a left punch, with the wiimote is a right puch, and punching while holding A is a star uppercut. The rest of the controls are on the control still, the same as the normal controls. The motion controls… work. But that’s about it. They’re not as sensitive as they should be and they’re not really that easy to use.

[...]

The game itself

Well, what is there to say really? It’s just like the NES game. And for that, it’s awesome. There’s 13 boxers to go through, each with a distinct pattern and moveset. Going through each of them brings you closer to being the world champion.

Each of the 13 boxers come from previous Punch Out games, other than Disco Kid. Each of them is increasingly difficult, each with a special gimmick or certain ways of getting KOd. Multiple enemies have certain animations where you can KO them in one hit. Some also have immunities to certain kids of hits. There’s really a lot of variety.

[...]

Overall

What more is there to say? Punch Out is a magnificent game. A great addition to any “core” gamer’s library. The gameplay is incredible and old-school. The graphics are badass, the animations are great and the sound is really good. This is pretty much the perfect game for an NES fanboy, and hardcore gamers in general. ALSO, this game is VERY replayable. The NES and SNES games are still being replayed a lot to this day, and this one should be no different.

If there was something I would say I’m disappointed in, I’d say it would be the low number of boxers. Another circuit would’ve been awesome. But at 14 boxers in total (including the super-secret Nintendo character everyone knows about by now), it’s a bit disappointing. But each boxer is so well done I don’t really mind.

Overall it’s a great game and a must-have for any Wii owner. But some people might want to wait for a price drop, as it’s a whopping 60$ in Canada (AKA the starting price for most PS3/Xbox 360 games), so 50$ in the US. A bit much.
